ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The management of the Metro Roxas Water District assured Capiz residents of an adequate water supply despite the prolonged dry season.
Atty. Dante Arcangeles, MRWD general manager, said the public can expect attention and solutions to whatever problems may arise during the extended dry spell.
Of Roxas City’s 47 barangays, 13 are experiencing turbid or cloudy water supply.
These are Barangays Culasi, Dayao, Baybay, Barangay 9, Punta Tabuc, Mongpong, Cogon, Barra, Tiza, Dumulog, Inzo and Banica.
MRWD gets its water supply from the Panay River, which serves the whole of Roxas City and the towns of Ivisan, Panitan and Panay.
Recently, residents of seven villages in Panay town grew concerned after noticing the discoloration of the Panay River, prompting the local government unit to conduct an investigation.
MRWD immediately issued a statement regarding the issue.
“We acknowledge reports of turbid or cloudy water from some service connections. This may occur due to disturbances in pipelines, changes in flow, or ongoing system adjustments. Our team is actively monitoring the situation and conducting necessary measures to restore normal water clarity,” the statement said.
“In some instances, customers may also notice changes in taste and odor. These are caused by naturally occurring compounds in the water that can persist even after treatment, but they do not pose a health risk. Rest assured that the water remains within the standards set by the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water.”
“We encourage our concessionaires to report any concerns through our official channels so we can promptly address specific areas and continue to provide water service.”
