Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (“MPIW”) will implement 24/7 operations beginning March 6, 2026, for the takeover of the HS Jaro (WTP influence) Pipe Replacement Project — Phases 1 and 2, following approval from the Iloilo City government.
The round-the-clock schedule aims to accelerate pipe installation and shorten the overall construction period, allowing improvements to the water distribution system to be delivered sooner.
The project covers sections along Lopez Jaena Street and Old Iloilo–Capiz Road, from Ungka Terminal to Plaza Jaro, where pipeline installation works are currently underway.
During construction, a portion of the road will be temporarily closed, but this will not be a full road closure. At least one lane will remain open, and traffic will continue to operate in both directions. MPIW has also closely coordinated with the Iloilo City Traffic and Transportation Management Office (ICTTMO) to implement a traffic management plan to maintain road safety and smoother traffic flow.
To help minimize inconvenience to nearby residents, activities that may generate more noise will be conducted primarily during daytime, while pipe laying and temporary asphalt restoration will continue at night.
Once completed, the project will deliver several key benefits:
● Improved water supply reliability through replacement of aging pipelines
● Reduced water losses, lowering non-revenue water from about 70% to around 20%
● Recovery of approximately 10 MLD of water, enough to supply at least 5,000 households
● Better water pressure and distribution with larger-capacity pipelines
● Improved service coverage benefiting residents in Jaro and nearby areas such as Mandurriao
● More resilient water supply during dry periods, including El Niño
● Long-term infrastructure reliability using durable PVC-O pipes
MPIW appreciates the continued support of the Iloilo City government and the public’s understanding as it works to strengthen the city’s water infrastructure. For updates and advisories, the public may follow MPIW’s official communication channels.
