With basketball operations still suspended under the community quarantine, several MPBL stars put up their respective businesses to keep themselves busy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Richard Albo of the Davao Occidental Tigers, Ronnie Matias of the Manila Stars, and JM Gonzales of the Caloocan Supremos were some of the MPBL stars that started to explore the world of business.
Albo and Matias both focused on the food delivery business while Gonzales is selling bicycles and gym equipment.
Gonzales is currently reselling gym equipment such as yoga mats, exercise wheels, power bands, and other paraphernalia.
On the other hand, Albo is busy cooking a famous Ilocano dish called dinakdakan, made by grilling pig heads parts and liver with a calamansi dressing finished with raw onions and chili.
While the other’s specialty is dinakdakan, Matias’ shrimp paste is a hit with the locals in his community. His mother Nelly, whose face is on the sealed bottles of his product, came up with the original recipe.
According to MPBL commissioner Kenneth Duremdes, the league’s resumption is still uncertain.
