Manny Pacquiao is indeed back.
Days after his controversial majority draw bout against Mario Barrios, boxing’s only eight-division world champion will most likely return to the ring this November or December 2025.
According to Sean Gibbons, the President of the Manny Pacquiao (MP) Promotions, the living legend will only have several months of rest before returning to training camp for a targeted fight night schedule before the year ends.
Gibbons revealed their next plotted move, which is to negotiate with Rolly Romero or Gervonta Davis in a highly anticipated blockbuster showdown.
The boxing executive said that he isn’t interested in setting up a rematch against Barrios, as everybody already knew that Pacquiao clearly won the fight.
Aside from that, Gibbons boldly said that Barrios only brings the championship belt to the table and he doesn’t draw anything else in a promotional standpoint.
“Not a knock on Barrios. I like him. I like everybody around him, but he doesn’t move the needle. He’s just a nice person,” said Gibbons.
MP Promotions’ top priority after taking a vacation is to lure Romero’s camp to a possible fight, as Gibbons announced that it will be a fun fight to watch and an exciting matchup to market.
Romero just increased his promotional stock after earning a second-round knockout win over Ryan Garcia last May 25, 2025, that improved his record to 17 wins, 13 knockouts, and two losses.
His two defeats came at the expense of Isaac Cruz, Pacquiao’s fighter under MP Promotions, and Davis, who knocked him out cold in Round six.
“Rolly Romero would be an unbelievably fun fight. Romero just beat Ryan Garcia. Rolly Romero and Manny Pacquiao would be a hell of a promotion,” added Gibbons.
Meanwhile, the fight that everybody wanted to witness is how Pacquiao can fare with the young and dangerous Davis who is yet to lose a single fight since turning professional.
Davis is a renowned knockout artist and is a combination of artistry and brutality. Out of 30 pro fights, the young king from Baltimore knocked out 28 of his opponents.
“Maybe it’s Gervonta Davis that could happen, and for once in his life, Manny is actually going to be bigger than his opponent, size-wise. So those are the real names out there Rolly Romero and Gervonta,” closed Gibbons.
