Movem Electric Inc. is calling for stronger public-private collaboration and targeted incentives to speed up the rollout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the Philippines, saying reliable charging networks are critical to wider EV adoption.
Movem is the end-to-end electric mobility solutions arm of the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Co., or Meralco.
At Solar & Storage Live Philippines 2026, held May 19–20, Movem President and CEO Ralph M. Menchavez joined industry leaders and energy stakeholders in discussions on expanding EV charging networks and supporting the country’s shift toward cleaner transport systems.
The conference focused on accelerating EV adoption, expanding charging infrastructure, and strengthening the Philippines’ transition toward cleaner and more sustainable mobility solutions.
Movem said the expansion of dependable and accessible charging infrastructure is essential to building consumer confidence and sustaining the long-term growth of electric mobility in the country.
The company also emphasized the need for scalable, reliable, innovative, resilient, and future-ready charging solutions that can adapt to the evolving needs of EV users and future transport systems.
“This infrastructure rollout must be complemented by strong public-private collaboration and targeted incentives to accelerate investment and improve utilization,” Menchavez said.
The discussions also underscored the role of coordination among government agencies, utilities, technology providers, and private sector players in closing infrastructure gaps.
Industry players have raised concerns that charging availability, grid readiness, and investment incentives will influence the pace of EV adoption in the coming years.
Movem said it remains committed to advancing sustainable transportation and supporting the development of a robust EV ecosystem in the Philippines.
Meralco and Movem also said they continue to strengthen efforts to improve grid readiness and prepare the country’s energy system for electrified transport growth.
