ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Capiz Governor Esteban Evan Nonoy Contreras is investigating the alleged missing funds of the motorpool located at the Provincial Engineer’s Office(PEO) in Brgy. Lawaan here.
Provincial Administrator Dr. Edwin Chinel Monares claimed that more or less P4.7 million in motorpool funds disbursed during the administration of former Governor Antonio del Rosario remain unaccounted.
Monares said the province owed different gas stations P4.7 million in fuel purchases. Also, the P4.8-million fuel budget for 2019 was already exhausted.
The administrator also learned that several spare parts dealers and suppliers have yet to be paid for Capitol purchases from 2017 to 2019.
Contreras already ordered the Committee on Internal Audit to investigate what happened to the motorpool funds.
Engr. Edgar Agana, Capiz provincial engineer, was stripped off the management of the motorpool. Provincial legal officer Boy Contreras is now the officer-in-charge.
Del Rosario has yet to issue his comment on the issue.
