The motorist who figured in a vehicular incident during a police chase was “arrested” while in detention.
Members of Sta. Barbara Police Station served the arrest warrant against Gerry Aldine Bazar, who is now at the Balasan Police Station.
Bazar, 33, a resident of Fairville Subdivision, Barangay Bolong Oeste, Sta. Barbara, is also a respondent to two counts of estafa (Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code) docketed as Criminal Case Numbers R 282-16 and R 283-16.
Judge Raul Facon of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 4 in Iloilo City issued the arrest warrant on Sept. 15, 2016.
A P10,000 bond for each case was recommended for his temporary liberty.
Bazar hogged the limelight after indulging the police in a car chase on Nov 2.
He was the subject of a complaint for failing to return his friend’s car – an MG Luxury sedan (license plate FAJ-9734) – which he was driving during the chase.
The car pursuit that started late afternoon of Tuesday in Pilar, Capiz ended in Balasan, Iloilo.
Members of Pilar Police Station eventually collared Bazar but not before he sideswiped a motorcycle at Barangay Camambugan, Balasan.
The motorcycle driver, 63-year-old Alejandro Navales, also a resident of the said place, died during the incident.
Bazar was already charged for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
