A motorcyclist died after his motorcycle rammed into the approach of the unfinished Aganan Flyover in Pavia, Iloilo.
The incident happened around 10:45 p.m. March 7 as alias “Ar-Ar” was navigating Barangay Aganan on his way to Sta. Barbara, Ilolo, where he was temporarily staying.
Police said the 39-year-old victim, a resident of Sara, Iloilo, who worked as a family driver, was believed to have been under the influence of liquor when the incident happened.
According to Lt. Gary Tayongtong, deputy chief of the Pavia police, the victim came from Iloilo City and was presumably speeding when the incident happened.
According to the victim’s family, Ar-Ar had just installed an aftermarket muffler on his motorcycle and may have been testing it.
“The area is well-lit. Motorists who frequently pass by the area are aware that the lane is narrowing, as they approach the Aganan Flyover,” he said.
The victim suffered head and bodily injuries.
Rescuers from PAVERS rushed the victim to Western Visayas Sanitarium and General Hospital in Sta. Barbara town, where he was declared dead on arrival.
