BACOLOD CITY — A call center agent died, and a family of three was injured after a motorcycle collided with a tricycle at Purok Ilang-Ilang, Barangay Poblacion, Bago City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday.
The victim, identified as 25-year-old John Paul Montaño of Barangay Busay, was killed in the accident.
Injured were Joel Necesario, 34, his 32-year-old wife, and their three-year-old son.
Police Corporal Kim Iver Cornel, a traffic investigator with the Bago City Police Station, said Montaño was driving his motorcycle toward Barangay Poblacion when he collided with Necesario’s tricycle.
Cornel reported that Montaño had attempted to overtake another motorcycle and encroached on Necesario’s lane while traveling downhill.
He added that Montaño may have been speeding, preventing him from returning to his lane in time.
The family was heading home when the crash occurred.
Montaño, who was not wearing a helmet, was declared dead at a hospital, Cornel said.
Necesario remains hospitalized, while his wife and son have been discharged, according to Cornel.
