ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 3-Day Basic Motorcycle Riding Seminar officially opened Thursday at Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) here.
Police Colonel Julio Gustilo, Jr., Capiz police director, said a simple opening ceremony was held for the 27 participants composed of Peacekeepers Active Riding Team (P.A.R.T.) officers and members.
The group is mainly composed of police riders headed by the police director himself and three civilian participants.
The group served as the frontliners of P.U.G.A Kontra C.O.V.I.D. of Capiz PPO who took active participation in the conduct of Community Outreach Program to indigent families in Capiz during the community lockdown.
“We are glad to partner with Capiz PPO on its effort in educating and re-educating the basics of motorcycle riding to its personnel particularly motorcycle enthusiasts for it is a must for every rider to know and be reminded of road safety always,” according to Police Captain Peter Bergonio, Highway Patrol Team (HPT) chief, who represented the regional chief of the Regional Highway Patrol Unit (RHPU)-6, Police Colonel Winston de Belen, during the opening.
According to Gustilo, the P.A.R.T. riders will continue to advocate the Road Safety Campaign of Capiz PPO to educate motorists of the significance of prevention in the field of road safety.
He said that Capiz PPO’s ongoing campaign on road safety has greatly reduced the occurrence of traffic/vehicular accidents in Capiz.
Based on CPPO records, traffic accidents decreased from 961 incidents in January to July 2019 to 552 incidents of same period in 2020.
