BACOLOD City – A motorcycle rider died after he collided with a taxi along Hernaez extension-Mansilingan road at Barangay Mansilingan here last Sunday.
Police identified the fatality as Noel Tingson, 38, of Barangay Villamonte here.
Police Inspector Florentino Abalayan, head of Police Station 7, said the taxi driven by 43-year-old Terence Paul Dalimu-os, of Barangay 35 here was heading to Mansilingan when it crashed into Tingson’s motorcycle.
Tingson, who was on his way home, had a helmet but he was not wearing it, the station commander added.
Initial investigation showed that Tingson allegedly encroached on the taxi’s lane, Abalayan said, adding that they have yet to check footages from closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) at the area.
Abalayan said the family members of both parties had initial talks at the police station for a possible settlement.
Dalimu-os was detained at the station’s custodial facility and was set to be released at 6 p.m. yesterday if no charges will be filed against him before the lapse of the reglementary detention.
