BACOLOD City – A motorcycle driver died after he crashed into a truck parked at Sitio Balanga-an, Barangay Cabanbanan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental Saturday.
Authorities identified the victim as Adones Alojamento, 28, of the said village.
Lieutenant Alfred Mansoy, deputy police chief of Himamaylan City Police Station, said Alojamento was driving a motorcycle along with his friends on separate motorcycles when he hit the rear part of the truck driven by Richel Acosta Jr.
Mansoy said it appeared that the victim was racing with fellow riders.
“Daw ga palumba sila. Dasig gid dalagan niya (victim),” Mansoy said.
The victim was brought to a hospital, where he was declared dead due to serious injuries.
Mansoy said there has been an initial settlement between the victim’s family and the truck driver.
Acosta will be released from police custody Monday evening after the lapse of the reglementary detention period.
