BACOLOD City – A man died in a motorcycle accident in Barangay To-oy, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
The victim was identified as Joey Valera, 28, of Barangay Bacuyangan, Hinoba-an town.
Police Staff Sergeant Joevanni Grijaldo, traffic investigator of Himamaylan City Police Station, said Valera was allegedly speeding on his way home when he failed to notice that he was approaching a rough part of the road.
The victim fell from his motorcycle and hit his head on the ground.
“Indi siya siguro familiar sa gin agyan niya na dalan,” Grijaldo said.
Grijaldo said the victim was wearing a helmet, but because of the impact, he suffered serious head injuries. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
The area is considered to be accident-prone since it is not well-lighted.
