BACOLOD City – A motorcycle rider died in a hit-and-run incident along Circumferential Road in Barangay Bata here on Monday night.
Police identified the fatality as Giovanni Padua, 52, of Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Police Major Richard Fajarito, head of Police Station 3, said the victim was thrown off his bike after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by an unidentified man rammed into the rear portion of the motorcycle.
Fajarito said the SUV that was tailing the motorcycle was allegedly speeding based on the statement of some witnesses.
“Medyo dulom pa na da na area, wala siguro na deparahan ka SUV driver,” he added.
Fajarito said that Padua was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
Fajarito said they are checking if there’s a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera in the area that might have captured the incident.
