BACOLOD City – A motorcycle rider died after he collided with a tricycle at Purok Mahirup, Barangay Busay, Bago City, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
The fatality was identified as Rolando Suello, 48, of Barangay Mansilingan here.
Police Lieutenant Joseph Jaro, deputy chief of Bago City Police Station, said that Suello was allegedly speeding on his way home when he crashed into a tricycle loaded with six passengers, including a minor.
Jaro said that Suello reportedly came from a birthday party based on the statement from witnesses.
He, however, could not confirm if the victim was drunk at that time.
Jaro said the victim was allegedly unstable while driving which caused him to overlap with the tricycle’s lane.
The victim was declared dead at a hospital, while the tricycle driver and his passengers suffered minor injuries.
Jaro said that the tricycle driver was already released from police custody after the lapse of the 12-hour reglementary detention.
He said that no charges were filed against the tricycle driver following a settlement.
