A motorcycle driver died following a collision on the afternoon of March 23 in Batad, Iloilo.
Alias Joe, a widower from Barangay Tanao, Batad, was declared dead on arrival at Jesus Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan town.
Reports said Joe was driving his Motoposh Pinoy 125 motorcycle from Concepcion town to Batad when the incident happened.
As he was navigating an uphill portion of Barangay Caw-i around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, he allegedly encroached on the opposite lane.
It was reportedly too late for the Mitsubishi Canter truck driven by alias Bert, 31, of Barangay San Isidro, Koronadal City, South Cotabato, to evade the motorcycle.
Joe was thrown from his motorcycle and sustained head and bodily injuries.
Reports said he was not wearing a protective helmet when the incident happened.
Bert was placed under police custody for proper disposition of the case.
Reports said settlement talks between the two parties are ongoing.
Under Philippine law, motorcycle riders are required to wear standard protective helmets while driving or riding motorcycles on public roads.
