BACOLOD City – A motorcycle rider died while a biker was injured after they figured in a road accident at Purok Linasgasan, Barangay Bato, Sagay City, Negros Occidental last Friday.
Killed in the accident was Maldino Manggay Jr., 49, of Barangay Rizal.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Indiape Jr., city police chief, said Manggay was tailing Gabriel Alcala, 23, of Barangay Bato, who was riding a bike on his way home.
However, the motorcycle allegedly hit the bike, causing both riders to fall on the ground.
Indiape said Manggay suffered serious injuries due to the impact, adding that he was not wearing a helmet.
Manggay was rushed to a hospital where he later expired, while Alcala suffered minor injuries.
Indiape said that Manggay was allegedly drunk, but nobody could testify if he was speeding when the accident happened.
