BACOLOD City – A motorcycle rider died after he crashed into a truck of the Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade at Barangay Singcang-Airport here Wednesday night.
Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, identified the victim as Joseph Ordeneza, 33, of Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental, and a gadget technician in a shopping mall here.
Puerto said Ordeneza was on his way home around 10:40PM when the accident occurred.
Puerto said the victim reportedly overlapped the fire truck’s lane. He tried to avoid the vehicle but due to the slippery road brought by rain showers, he slipped and was thrown off from his motorcycle, the station commander added.
The victim, who was wearing a helmet succumbed to head injuries due to the strong impact, Puerto said.
Puerto said fire truck driver Ariel Minor, 46, of Sagay City, was on his way to their station when it happened.
The Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade has already extended assistance to the victim’s family, but the latter will still pursue the filing of a case against Minor, who is detained at the police station, he added.
Minor will be released from police custody if charges will not be filed against him within the 18-hour reglementary detention period, Puerto said.
