Motorcycle driver killed in collision with mobile rice mill

A motorcycle driver died after his vehicle collided with a mobile rice mill, or rolling cono, at Barangay Palanguia, Pototan, Iloilo afternoon of Feb 6, 2023.
Mario Trabado, 37, of Barangay Batuan, Pototan, suffered multiple injuries.
He died a few hours after he was taken to Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan town.
The incident also injured Charlie Lariga, 58, of Palanguia, Pototan.
Lariga, the helper of the mobile rice mill that collided with Trabado’s motorcycle, injure his leg and head.
Major Roy Tayona, Pototan police chief, said the incident happened as the mobile rice mill driven by John de Juan tried to overtake a four-wheeled vehicle.
De Juan, 32, also a resident of Palanguia village, failed to immediately maneuver to the designated lane and collided with Trabado’s vehicle, which was running in the opposite direction.
Tayona said the victim was not wearing a crash helmet when the incident happened.
De Juan immediately turned himself in after the incident.
Meanwhile, Tayona said that Trabado’s family has already agreed to a settlement with de Juan.
