BACOLOD City – A motorcycle driver died, while three others, including an Indian national were injured after they figured in a road collision at Sitio Medina Eco-Translink highway, Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Killed was Rodemar Dayanan, 25, of the said village.
Police Lieutenant Ruby Aurita, deputy police chief of San Carlos City Police Station, said that a Toyota Innova driven by 32-year-old Indian national crashed into Dayanan’s motorcycle at a blind road curve.
Aurita said the Innova probably overtook another vehicle and overlapped on the motorcycle’s lane that led to the collision.
Aurita said both vehicles were on their way home when the accident occurred.
The Indian national and his two companions suffered minor injuries.
Aurita said that Dayanan was wearing a helmet but due to the impact, he suffered serious injuries and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
Aurita said the victim’s family already met with the Indian national and had an initial settlement.
“Indi naman mapasaka kaso ang parents sang biktima, nangayo lang sila assistance and nag agree man ang Indian national na magbulig,” she added.
She said the Indian national will be released from police custody after the 18-hour detention period lapses.
