BACOLOD CITY — Two motorcycle riders were killed after their motorcycle collided with an L300 van in Sitio Tabugok, Barangay Patun-an, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, May 16.
Police identified one of the fatalities as Trophany, 41, of Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
His backrider remained unidentified.
Investigation showed that the motorcycle, driven by Trophany, was heading toward San Carlos City when it reportedly overtook a vehicle, lost control, and collided with the van driven by a 31-year-old Calatrava resident.
The van driver tried to avoid the crash, but the motorcycle was allegedly speeding while approaching a curved road, leading to a head-on collision.
Both motorcycle riders were declared dead at a hospital, police said.
Police reminded motorists to observe speed limits, especially on curves and in rural road sections where visibility and maneuvering space may be limited.
