Mother, son shot dead, one injured

BACOLOD City – Police are probing a shooting incident that killed a mother and her son in Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
The fatalities were identified as Sherly Española, 50, and her 20-year-old son Jason, both residents of the said village.
Wounded was Española’s eight-year-old son.
Police Captain Abegael Donasco, deputy chief of Talisay City Police Station, said the victims were riding a motorcycle on their way home when they were shot by unidentified perpetrators.
Española and Jason died on the spot while the wounded minor was taken to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here, according to Donasco.
Recovered from the crime scene were two fired bullets and a slug of a suspected .45 caliber ammunition.
Donasco said the mother suffered a lone gunshot wound in the throat, while Jason succumbed to a gunshot wound in the shoulder.
The minor-victim suffered two gunshot wounds in the abdomen and shoulder, she added.
Donasco said they have no person of interest and no motive yet in the incident. But, they are checking the information they have received which can help them in the investigation.
She, however, refused to divulge it, pending the validation.
