ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A mother, her newborn baby, the father, and two other passengers escaped injury after their car accidentally fell down a steep mountain slope on Thursday evening, June 5, in Barangay Amaga, Sigma, Capiz.
Angeline Duran gave birth to a baby girl inside the vehicle driven by her husband, Malven Duran, just as the accident occurred.
The Duran couple and two relatives were on their way to Mambusao District Hospital in Mambusao, Capiz, because Angeline was about to give birth.
Malven parked the car along the roadside after seeing his wife—seated in the back—go into labor.
However, the car, which was in neutral, rolled forward and plunged down the slope.
Residents rushed to the scene and rescued the passengers from the vehicle.
Responders from the Sigma Fire Station and other emergency units arrived shortly after and transported Angeline and her newborn to the Sigma Rural Health Clinic.
Both the mother and daughter were declared in healthy and stable condition.
