Four more patients in Western Visayas survived the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), bringing the total COVID-19 recoveries in the region to 88, or 73 percent of confirmed cases, according to the Department of Health-Center for Health Development Western Visayas (DOH-CHD 6).
In an online press briefing on Friday, Dr. Jessie Glenn Alonsabe, DOH-CHD 6 regional epidemiologist, reported that the survivors include a repatriated Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Negros Occidental and three patients in Iloilo City.
The four new recoveries are a 43-year-old male OFW repatriate from Escalante, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 84); a 39-year-old female from Arevalo district in Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 93); a 37-year-old male from Arevalo district in Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 104); and a 25-year-old female from Lapuz district in Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 106).
“For today, our good news is that we have recorded four new recoveries in the region. The recoveries are WV Patient No. 84, an OFW repatriate from Negros Occidental; WV Patient No. 93 and WV Patient No. 104, a couple from Arevalo district; and WV Patient No. 106 who is a personnel of the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology (BJMP) from Lapuz, Iloilo City,” he said on Friday.
The health department also reported zero additional COVID-19 cases in the region on Friday.
Alonsabe said all 377 laboratory results released on Friday tested negative for SARS-CoV-2, including 376 negative results and one repeat negative.
As of Friday, the total COVID-19 cases in the region remain at 121 with 23 active cases, 88 recoveries and 10 deaths.
Of the total cases in the region, 88 or 73 percent have already recovered while 18 or 15 percent are still quarantined; 5 cases or 4 percent remain admitted and 10 or 8 percent have expired.
