More than 3,000 curfew violators nabbed

BACOLOD City – A total of 3,068 curfew violators were arrested by police in Negros Occidental from April 12, 2021 to May 31, 2021.
Based on the data from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), 2,018 were apprehended by City Police Stations while 1,050 were nabbed by Municipal Police Stations after 1,530 operations.
The provincial government set the curfew hours from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. since April 12, 2021 as part of measures to curb the surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases at that time.
Nocppo records also showed that 2,555 were warned and advised to go home, while 453 were directed to render community service.
Seventy persons were also fined, and nine others were charged for their offenses.
La Carlota City Police Station had the highest number of arrested violators with 533, while Murcia Municipal Police Station registered the lowest number of violators with 5.
The provincial police force continues to remind the public to strictly follow the curfew hours and observe the health protocols to help in the prevention of COVID-19 transmission.
