A total of 13,300 family food packs have been distributed to families in Iloilo City and Iloilo province which had been placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
As of July 21, 2021, Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 6 (DSWD 6) said that P6.326 million worth of family food packs have been augmented to local government units (LGUs) in the city and province of Iloilo.
Iloilo City received 5,000 food packs.
The municipalities of Oton, Tubungan, Leon, and Cabatuan each received 500 food packs; Tigbauan received 800 food packs; San Dionisio and Concepcion each received 1,000 foodpacks; Miagao received 1,500 food packs; and Sara with 2,000 food packs.
The family food packs contained rice, canned goods, and cereal drinks, according to DSWD 6.
Meanwhile, DSWD 6 Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre has also recommended additional cash assistance for the affected families under ECQ to their Central Office.
“We are recommending provision of cash to the families because this option will be more responsive to the urgent needs of the people,” she said in a previous statement.
Once, the request of the agency will be granted some 86,000 qualified residents of Iloilo City can avail of the cash assistance. (ERS)
