BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here held another blood donation drive to help critically ill coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients.
Eleven Nocppo personnel who already recovered from COVID-19 donated their plasma in response to the call of the Department of Health (DOH) and Provincial Health Office (PHO).
The project dubbed “Plasma Mo, Armas Ko Batuk sa COVID-19,” was conducted in partnership with Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) Blood Bank, held inside the Camp Alfredo M Montelibano Sr. in Barangay Estefania here last Monday.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and DOH, the convalescent plasma of the persons who have recovered from the said disease contains antibodies that can be transferred to the critically ill COVID-19 patients to help them fight the virus or the infection, a press release from Nocppo said.
Colonel Romy Palgue, Nocppo director, lauded the donors and thanked the CLMMRH Blood Bank for making this activity possible.
He assured the Negrenses that policemen are always ready to respond and help in the fight against COVID-19.
Last September, 12 Nocppo police officers, who were declared fully recovered from COVID, also took part in the blood donation drive.
