MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) dispatched seven response teams with 37 personnel to Negros Occidental to support sister firm Negros Power in restoring electricity after Typhoon Tino damaged distribution lines.
The first deployment on November 7 included three teams composed of 13 personnel, who were assigned to Bago City and Bacolod City.
Each team brought essential service vehicles, including a boom truck, a pick-up, and an L300 van, to carry out power line repairs and system restoration.
MORE Power deployed five more teams on November 12, adding 24 personnel, two lift trucks, and another L300 vehicle to intensify the recovery work.
The Iloilo City-based utility said the deployment was part of its continued commitment to disaster response and mutual aid among sister companies.
“We sent our line crews and engineers to Negros Power not only because it is our sister company, but because it is part of our culture as a distribution utility to bring light to communities in need,” said MORE Power Chief Operating Officer Engr. JM Zaporteza.
“This is not the first time we’ve extended help—back in 2021, during Typhoon Odette, we also deployed teams to CENECO to assist in restoring power as quickly as possible,” he added.
MORE Power also transported its oil purification and regeneration machine to assist Negros Power in revitalizing power transformers at the Gonzaga Substation and other strategic sites.
The machine allows testing and servicing of transformers while keeping them energized, avoiding disruption during recovery efforts.
MORE Power’s aid was part of a broader response with Bohol Light, another sister company under Primelectric Holdings, which also sent crews to help in Central Negros.
