MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) announced a decrease in its power rate by PHP 1.06 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) this February, bringing the residential electricity rate down to PHP 11.60/kWh from PHP 12.66/kWh in January.
Households consuming an average of 200 kWh per month can save PHP 212.00 on their electricity bill this month.
The positive adjustment was due to a significant drop in electricity prices at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) from PHP 6.46 per kWh to PHP 3.40 per kWh.
The system loss rate also decreased by PHP 0.06/kWh, reflecting lower overall power costs.
Fewer outages at generation plants also contributed to the decrease, along with low demand and cooler temperatures.
There was a slight increase of PHP 0.07/kWh in the transmission charge due to the upward movement in the cost of regulated transmission services.
“More savings mean more reasons to celebrate the season of love! We extend our gratitude for being with us as we continue to power your homes with brighter days and lighter bills in the city and province of Iloilo,” MORE Power said in a statement.
The commercial rate this month is PHP 10.7317 per kWh, down from PHP 11.7958 per kWh last month.
All published electricity rates of MORE Power are already inclusive of tax.
MORE Power said it has consistently sought ways to lower rates for consumers, with the distribution utility actively monitoring market conditions and negotiating competitive supply contracts to minimize cost pass-through to customers.
The utility’s efforts to reduce system losses and improve operational efficiency have also contributed to more stable and competitive power rates in Iloilo City and surrounding areas served by the company.
