Almost 200 families in Molo, Iloilo City have started applying for connections and meters with MORE Electric and Power Corp. days after they were caught stealing electricity.
Instead of suing the 191 families in South Baluarte, Molo, MORE Power helped them apply for new connections and meters.
To recall, MORE KONEK Task Force on May 14, 2020 traced and disconnected 191 jumpers or illegal connections in South Baluarte
On May 17, MORE Power went back to the area and conducted a seminar and application processing in the barangay to help the jumpers become legitimate consumers.
Barangay officials helped the applicants by providing the needed documents such as Certificate of Residency and Government ID, particularly for the informal settlers.
MORE KONEK Task Force Project Manager Ariel Castañeda said they will provide a special lane and desk at MORE Power’s office which will be managed by personnel from the City Engineer’s Office (CEO).
The CEO personnel are ready to provide Electrical Safety Inspection Reports and sign the Oath of Undertaking of the connection and meter applicants.
Engr. Randy Pastolero, Iloilo City’s Public Utility consultant, is also at hand to sign the Electrical Plans that the applicants will submit to MORE Power.
MORE Power said they will also conduct power load assessment on the applicants for their billing deposits.
Castañeda said the application process will only take a week or even less to be completed so that the 191 families will become legitimate consumers and stop stealing electricity from the city’s power lines.
The applicants lauded MORE Power’s streamlined application process saying they also wanted to become legitimate consumers, but they were discouraged by the stringent requirements of the previous distribution utility.
MORE Power said other jumpers or power pilferers to apply for connections and meters with its Customer Services Office in Gen. Luna St., Brgy. Inday, Iloilo City.
