Two major commercial establishments in Pavia, Iloilo have migrated their electricity service to MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) this February, marking a significant expansion of the utility’s footprint in the municipality.
Marlu’s Restaurant became the first food service establishment in Pavia to switch to the new distribution utility, alongside a local publishing firm that also completed its migration on February 18, 2026.
The transition ceremony at Marlu’s Restaurant was attended by owner Joaquin T. Cocjin, Pavia Municipal Administrator Joanna Mantilla, and officials from the Municipal Engineer’s Office.
Representing MORE Power at the ceremony was a delegation led by Chief Operating Officer Engr. Paul Almedilla.
A simultaneous migration ceremony was also held at the offices of the local publishing company, where its management team received representatives from MORE Power and the Pavia Local Government Unit (LGU).
Both establishments expressed satisfaction with the transition, noting that the business community had been anticipating the utility’s expansion into Pavia.
They also encouraged other local consumers to consider switching, citing MORE Power’s proven track record and the immediate benefits of experiencing the upgraded service firsthand.
“We are grateful for the trust these establishments have placed in us,” said Almedilla. “We are committed to providing quality service and will continue our planned expansion, as several projects are already in the pipeline. The utility remains on track with this continuous transition.”
The latest switches follow earlier migrations in Pavia under MORE Power’s expanded franchise, including construction firm International Builders Corporation (IBC), whose power source transfer was completed on Jan. 18, 2026 and was described in published reports as the first consumer transfer in the extended service area.
Another high-profile transfer involved Iloilo Supermart–Jibao-an, Pavia, which migrated its power source on Jan. 23, 2026 and was reported as the first mall in MORE Power’s expanded franchise area to transition from its previous distribution utility.
The expansion into Pavia is rooted in legislation filed in September 2021 by 2nd District Representative Michael Gorriceta and 4th District Representative Braeden John Biron, which sought to extend MORE Power’s franchise to ensure improved and more dependable power distribution across a wider service area.
MORE Power originally received a 25-year distribution franchise covering Iloilo City under Republic Act 11212, which was signed in February 2019, and the company has since been pursuing service expansion beyond the city as franchise coverage widened.
MORE Power reaffirmed its commitment to a seamless transfer for all stakeholders within its extended franchise area, asserting its readiness to support local economic growth through modernized power solutions.
