MORE Electric and Power Corp. has partnered with Electro Premier Venture International Inc. to roll out a pilot Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) System in Iloilo City.
MORE Power President Roel Z. Castro and Electro Premier President Atty. Rica Gatchalian signed the memorandum of agreement, marking the official start of their collaboration.
The partnership aims to modernize electricity management through smart grid technology that enhances energy monitoring, customer access, and utility performance.
Electro Premier, a Philippine company specializing in power technology solutions, will provide, install, and commission the end-to-end AMI system.
The AMI system includes a Head End System (HES), communication infrastructure, and smart meters—90 single-phase units for residential customers and 10 three-phase units for commercial clients.
“This pilot project is especially exciting here in Iloilo, which is a smart city at the forefront of innovation,” said Gatchalian.
The Energy Regulatory Commission approved the AMI Rules on April 12, 2016, requiring distribution utilities like MORE Power to implement advanced metering infrastructure in their franchise areas.
In line with these rules, MORE Power will use the pilot to validate technical and financial assumptions before full-scale deployment under its Program Delivery Plan.
The pilot will cover both Iloilo City and the province, serving a mix of residential and commercial customers of MORE Power.
Electro Premier will shoulder the full cost of the pilot project, including all hardware, software, and services.
The AMI system enables demand-side management by giving customers real-time data and control over their electricity usage.
Key features include customer-specific outage detection, meter irregularity alerts, and the ability to remotely connect, disconnect, or reconnect power services.
The initiative reflects Iloilo’s drive toward digital transformation and smart city development.
