MAAYON, Capiz — Rep. Ivan Howard Guintu of Capiz’s 1st District led the groundbreaking ceremony for infrastructure projects in three barangays of Maayon town on Sept. 18.
The projects include the improvement of local roads in Barangay Maalan, the rehabilitation of the multi-purpose (civic) center in Barangay Poblacion Ilaya, and the construction of a new multi-purpose legislative building in Barangay Poblacion Ilawod.
Maayon Mayor Raymond “MonMon” Malapajo, RN, along with the Maayonanon community, expressed satisfaction with the initiatives spearheaded by Guintu as part of the town’s continuing development.
Guintu said he remains optimistic that more projects will be implemented in Maayon to address the community’s needs.
He shared that his attention was drawn to a video posted on Facebook showing a student crossing the Bangud Bridge during high flooding.
The congressman said he immediately sought funding through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) with the help of Sen. Lito Lapid to resolve the long-standing problem in the area.
Guintu added that he will personally inspect the bridge once construction begins to ensure the structure will not be substandard.
The ceremony was attended by Capiz 1st District Board Member Pepe Del Rosario, Liga ng mga Barangay–Maayon President Ramil Malapajo, lawyer Judgee Earlross Del Castillo, District Engineer Cecille Lawrence Cruz of the DPWH Capiz First Engineering District, Capiz PNP Provincial Director Albert Tapulao, DPWH staff, barangay officials, and local residents.
