Mobile vaccination drive launched to reach marginalized sector

Bacolod City – The City Government of Bacolod launched Thursday its mobile vaccination drive against COVID-19 to cover the marginalized sector.

Dubbed as “VAX-i”, the mobile drive also aims to make vaccination more accessible to the public, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said.

The mobile vaccination clinic is another strategy of the CoVaC, which is aimed at vaccinating as many Bacolodnons as possible, he added.

Specifically, it targets to help workers like vendors and public transport drivers who are unable to leave their work for a day to go to the vaccination centers.

“Our goal is to make the vaccination program more accessible to everyone so we can achieve herd immunity and eradicate COVID-19 as fast as possible,” Leonardia said.

“We will bring the vaccination to our market vendors, who can’t leave their stalls,” Ang stressed.

The vaccine bus will not only stop at major public markets, but also at jeepney and tricycle terminals and even remote areas of the city as well as barangays with the lowest uptake of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Meanwhile, Miraflor said that VAX-i will allow the City Government to “reach more communities.”

“Our mobile vaccination drive aims to vaccinate those who have no access to our vaccination sites. We will start with our market vendors who continue to provide us with our essential needs,” he added.

Leonardia said: “The VAX-i will be there where we are needed. Our goal is to reach the last mile so that more and more Bacolodnons will be vaccinated, especially those who are the most vulnerable in the society.” (With a report from CITY PIO)
