A fisherman who went missing while fishing in Miag-ao, Iloilo was found dead at noon on Sept. 26 in the waters of Iloilo City Proper.
The body of the victim, identified only as “Noel,” 44, a resident of Barangay Baybay Norte, Miag-ao, was discovered floating near the Iloilo First Port Complex in Barangay Tanza Baybay.
His remains were identified by his brother-in-law at the scene.
According to Major Richard Lao, chief of the Miag-ao Municipal Police Station, Noel’s family reported him missing on Sept. 25.
Noel reportedly left alone to go fishing at around 4 p.m. on Sept. 24.
He was expected to return home by 11 p.m. the same night.
When he failed to return, his relatives reported his disappearance to the Philippine Coast Guard the following day.
As of this writing, police have found no indications of foul play in his death.
