Missing girl in Leon found dead in Tigbauan

A 6-year-old girl was found dead after she slipped into a creek in the middle of heavy rains in Leon, Iloilo on Nov. 21, 2022.
The body of Ahleia Kassidy, a Grade 1 pupil from Barangay Ticuan, Leon, Iloilo, was found on the shoreline of Namocon village in Tigbauan.
Lieutenant Mary Jane Panes, Tigbauan police chief, said that 52-year-old Ernie Tudencie, a lifeguard from Namocon village, found the body around 5 a.m. Monday.
Police investigators later learned of a missing child in Leon.
Coordination was made with Leon Municipal Police Station and eventually the victim’s family.
Ahleia’s family claimed that the girl was with her three other young children on their way home from Gines Elementary School when the incident happened.
There was a heavy downpour as the four children were crossing a creek.
The girl may have slipped which caused her to fall into the creek and was swept by raging waters.
A search and rescue operation was conducted to locate her but to no avail.
She was found 13 hours later.
