BACOLOD City – A body of a fisherman who was reported missing last Friday, was retrieved in the waters of Purok 3, Barangay Tuyom, Cauayan, Negros Occidental Monday night.
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel received a call for assistance from a barangay official regarding a body sighted in the said area past 8PM.
Upon verification with the family, Commander Ludovico Librilla Jr., PCG-Negros Occidental, said that the victim was identified as Teodorico Castellano, 39, of Barangay Burgos, Pontevedra town.
Castellano went missing after he was swept by strong water current in Pontevedra town early Friday after he jumped into the sea to retrieve the water container that fell from their fishing boat.
He went fishing with Reynold Catalan, 26, of Barangay Miranda that day, when the incident happened.
Catalan tried to rescue Castellano, but he failed due to big waves and strong winds.
Castellano’s cadaver was already turned over to his family.
