BACOLOD City – Police are looking into vengeance as possible motive behind the death of a 17-year-old boy who was gunned down by two unidentified men on a motorcycle at Purok Mahiliugyun, Barangay 35 here last Sunday.
Police withheld the name of the fatality.
Major Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 1, said the perpetrators shot the teenager at close range while he was sitting on a tricycle parked on the roadside.
Sarona said the teenager suffered two gunshot wounds on his head and neck and was declared dead on arrival at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.
Sarona said that a 72-year-old woman, who was standing close to the victim along with her 14-year-old granddaughter, was hit by a stray bullet.
The elderly woman suffered an injury in her left arm and is confined to a private hospital here, while her granddaughter suffered bruises.
Police recovered from the scene two cartridges of .9mm caliber ammunition.
Sarona said the suspects targeted the male teenager probably because of his previous link to some theft incidents.
“May mga record na siya sa pagpangawat, basi nagka atraso kag gin balusan siya,” he added.
Sarona said the teenager was recently tagged in a theft incident at the said barangay, according to his father.
Sarona said they already have witnesses, but they could not identify the perpetrators because their faces were covered with face masks and helmets.
