Minor nabbed in gun entrapment
A minor accused of gunrunning was arrested late morning of Feb. 17 in Arevalo, Iloilo City. A minor accused of gunrunning was arrested late morning of Feb. 17 in Arevalo, Iloilo City.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Office-City Intelligence Unit arrested alias Sing, 16, in a police entrapment operation at Sunset Boulevard, Barangay So-oc, Arevalo.
He allegedly sold a homemade caliber .38 revolver for PHP 2,500.
Police also confiscated the suspect’s green belt bag and mobile phone.
The suspect is in the custody of Iloilo City Police Station 6’s Women and Children Protection Desk pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Meanwhile, Col. Wilbert Parilla, Iloilo City police chief, has emphasized the ICPO’s firm stance on crimes involving minors and the continued support of the community.

“We do not tolerate illegal activities, especially when committed by minors who have promising futures ahead of them. This operation demonstrates our commitment to protecting both the community and the youth from involvement in criminal acts,” Parilla said.
The ICPO also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any illegal firearms activity, reinforcing the collective effort to maintain a safe and secure Iloilo City.
