A 17-year-old boy died after being stabbed late on July 30 in Leganes, Iloilo.
The victim, identified only as “Nonoy,” was from Barangay Buntatala, Jaro.
Police said the incident occurred after a drinking session with four companions, including the suspect.
The group had been drinking at a community store in Barangay Poblacion, Leganes, shortly before the altercation.
It was there that a confrontation broke out between Nonoy and the suspect, identified as “Mike,” 23, of Barangay Poblacion.
Captain General Enrique Robles, chief of the Leganes Police Station, said Nonoy allegedly became jealous after his girlfriend had a tattoo done by Mike.
Their three other companions managed to break up the fight.
The group ended the night around 10:45 p.m.
However, as Nonoy was heading home, Mike allegedly ran after him and stabbed him in the side.
Nonoy was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The suspect fled the scene but later surrendered to police at his sister’s house in Parc Regency, Pavia, Iloilo, at around 3:30 a.m. on July 31.
Robles said Mike is in custody and will face a murder charge.
