ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 17-year-old boy is facing a murder charge for hacking to death his 62-year-old grandfather Thursday last week at Sitio Sinandigan, Barangay Mianay in Sigma, Capiz.
Ramil Escosio, barangay tanod or watchman of Mianay, said the suspect and victim Elpideo Alilang were drinking liquor in the house of Nestor Doroteo the night before the incident when a heated argument occurred.
The suspect then went ahead after consuming liquor and waited for the victim in a dark place.
Armed with a bolo, the suspect repeatedly hacked his grandfather. Not contented, he allegedly cut the victim’s head.
The victim’s body was discovered the following day by bystanders.
Investigation by police said the suspect got irked at Alilang after the latter accused him of stealing his pig.
Police Lieutenant Reynaldo Lata, Sigma Municpal Police Station chief, said the case will be filed before the Provincial Prosecutor Office against the suspect who is presently in the custody of the municipal social welfare and development office.
