The town of Miagao in southern Iloilo now has a more convenient venue for public service with the state-of-the-art building delivered by the Department of Public Works and Highways Iloilo 1st District Engineering Office. The DPWH Iloilo 1st District Engineering Office is based in the province’s 1st District and is currently headed by OIC District Engineer Ethel B. Morales.
Implemented through six major phases with a combined cost of PHP 146.6 million, the project resulted in a modern municipal facility with a contemporary interior design planned to serve both present needs and future generations.
The five-story building is an addition to the existing two-story municipal hall and includes the upgrading of key facilities such as the Sangguniang Bayan session hall to ensure seamless integration with the new structure.
The project also includes modern interior finishes and essential amenities such as an elevator, solar panels, and office fixtures to ensure that all offices are fully furnished, functional, and ready to serve the public.
DPWH Region 6 Director Denise Maria M. Ayag said the modernization effort aims to meet 21st-century building standards.
“More than being a bureaucratic hub, this new building is designed to boost the morale of the officials to provide a more effective and efficient public service,” Ayag said.
“This will likewise facilitate smoother transaction, bringing the government closer to the people,” Ayag added.
Meanwhile, OIC District Engineer Ethel B. Morales said the modern municipal hall is the result of the combined efforts of DPWH, the local government unit of Miagao, and the construction partners.
“With proper and close coordination with the local government, we had completed this modernized government building that could benefit not only the present generation but for future generations who will continue to benefit from efficient and accessible public service,” Morales said.
Inaugurated in February 2026 and now fully operational, the Miagao Municipal Hall marks a significant milestone in the municipality’s continuing efforts to modernize public infrastructure and improve government service delivery. Search results on local coverage and project records indicate the building was inaugurated on Feb. 2, 2026. (DPWH)
