BACOLOD City – Murder charges have been filed on Tuesday against a 24-year-old man for allegedly killing his grandfather at Sitio Malusay, Barangay Caradio-an, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental last Monday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Grande, city police chief, said the victim’s grandson visited him last Sunday. However, the suspect allegedly suddenly went violent and hacked his 80-year-old grandfather with a bolo.
The victim suffered 11 hack wounds in the head, throat, and arms when found lifeless beside a fish pond.
The victim’s son-in-law discovered the incident when he went to the victim’s house to invite him for coffee on Monday morning.
Grande said the suspect’s family surrendered him to the authorities upon learning of the said incident.
Grande said that according to the suspect’s mother, he’s been mentally unstable for a week already, as he has not eaten for days.
