Mentally-deranged man who stabbed neighbor dies

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A mentally-deranged man who stabbed a neighbor to death died while undergoing treatment in a hospital.

The Dumarao PNP station confirmed that alias “Randy” died Monday afternoon, August 5, while undergoing treatment at Pototan Mental Hospital in Pototan, Iloilo.

The family has yet to reveal the cause of his death.

Alias “Edgar” died after being stabbed by Randy on Sunday afternoon, August 4, in Barangay Aglanot, Dumarao, Capiz.

A report from the Dumarao PNP station indicated that while the victim was sitting on a bench after attending a relative’s funeral, the suspect arrived and, without any word, stabbed him in the stomach and right hand.

The victim was brought to Sen. Gerry Roxas Memorial District Hospital in Dao town, where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor.

The suspect was immediately arrested by the police and released from custody Monday afternoon after the detention period lapsed.

Randy was taken to the hospital by his family after he became uneasy and wild.
