An auto mechanic died following a road crash at noon on May 13 in Tigbauan, Iloilo.
Louie, 47, of Barangay Buyu-an in Tigbauan, was driving his Suzuki Raider motorcycle to work in Oton town when he was hit by a Chevrolet sedan.
The sedan was driven by alias Neri, 57, a retired seafarer from Barangay Balantad-Carlos Fruto in Guimbal, Iloilo.
Police reports said Neri was navigating a curve in Barangay Atabayan at about 12:23 p.m. Wednesday when his vehicle encroached on the opposite lane and hit Louie’s motorcycle.
Capt. Alfred Mansoy, Tigbauan police chief, clarified that Neri was not overtaking another vehicle at the time.
Mansoy said Neri allegedly thought the road was clear and took a portion of the opposite lane.
Louie was wearing a protective helmet but suffered fatal injuries after he was thrown from the motorcycle.
He was taken to Rep. Pedro G. Trono Memorial Hospital in Guimbal but was declared dead on arrival.
Mansoy said settlement talks are underway between the suspect and the victim’s family.
