A fishing vessel mechanic was arrested on May 2 for illegal gun possession charges.
Police nabbed Jay-Ar Caracas, 32, at his home in Barangay Poblacion Zone II, Estancia, Iloilo around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Members of Estancia Municipal Police Station, together with other police units from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) and Police Regional Office (PRO) 6, collared the suspect for alleged violation of Section 28 (a) of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) under Criminal Case No. 2023-10896.
Judge Jose Mauricio Gomez of the Regional Trial Court Branch 71 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo issued the arrest warrant on April 27, 2023.
A P100,000 bail was set for his temporary liberty.
Captain Arniel Buraga, Estancia police chief, said the suspect was charged last year.
But he’s checking on the circumstances of his arrest since the case was regularly filed.
The suspect has not been staying in Estancia and had just temporarily returned prior to getting arrested.
