Mayor to probe Tapaz raids

ROXAS CITY, Capiz –Mayor Roberto “Nonong” Palomar of Tapaz, Capiz will conduct an independent investigation on raids that killed nine persons in their town last Dec 30, 2020.
The raids, which also covered several subjects in Calinog, Iloilo also led to the arrest of 16 persons.
In a statement issued via radio on Saturday, Palomar said persons behind the deadly operations will face the consequences of their actions.
The mayor has extended assistance to affected families who fled from their residences for fear of being raided by authorities again.
“I understand that some of the affected families especially the children were traumatized because of the incident,” he said.
Capiz Governor Esteban Evan Nonoy Contreras also sent assistance to the affected families who were presently evacuated at Tapaz Civic Center and the barangay hall.
