Mayor Jerry Treñas ordered increased police visibility in Iloilo City following the spike of crime incidents last week.
Treñas on Tuesday emphasized that police motorcycles and patrol cars should be mobilized instead of being parked inside the police stations.
“We purchased the patrol cars and motorcycles to give police visibility and respond to crimes. These assets were not purchased to be parked on police stations. Amo na gani ginatinguhaan ta gid mabaklan sang maayo nga equipment kay gusto ta nga safe aton siyudad,” he stressed.
According to Treñas, he already instructed the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) to increase police visibility in key areas in the city especially during peak hours.
The mayor said police presence is a deterrent to criminals.
Treñas added that he ordered ICPO to conduct a probe on the cases of frustrated abduction and shooting incidents in the metro have already been ordered to the ICPO.
“Kadamo sang natabo kag gusto ko padalman kay may mga frustrated abduction and gintiro. Ang instruction ko mapadalman para mabal-an kon sin-o to ang mga perpetrators,” he said.
