MAAYON, Capiz – A potable water system and a new public market with a transport terminal are the top priority projects of newly reelected Mayor Raymond Malapajo in his second term.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Guardian on Monday, July 7, Malapajo said personnel from the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) recently conducted an ocular inspection in Poblacion Ilaya, which is being considered as a potential water source for the project.
He added that newly elected 1st District Rep. Ivan Howard Andrada Abendano Guintu will help secure funding for the water system.
Malapajo, who publicly endorsed Guintu during the last election, said the congressman also committed to helping fund the construction of a public market and transport terminal along the bypass road in Poblacion Ilaya.
The project will require the expropriation of about eight hectares of land and is estimated to cost PHP200 million.
Guintu won by a margin of 20,000 votes over his lone opponent, Paolo Roxas, son of former Sen. Mar Roxas.
The mayor said he intends to complete all ongoing projects and programs started during his previous term.
Malapajo currently serves as the president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Capiz chapter.
He and Vice Mayor Jose Dapulaza both ran unopposed in the last midterm elections.
