BACOLOD City – Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental again denied that she has links to the New People’s Army (NPA) and even called the latest cases filed against her as “trumped up” charges.
Yulo said most of the individuals who accused her of having links with insurgents are also working for her uncle, former Moises Padilla mayor Magdaleno Peña.
The town mayor also denied issuing execution orders against persons killed in their town as she did not even know them personally and they did not pose threats to her.
“The [only] political threat that I have is Frank Nazareno, and he’s still alive, and in fact he supported me during the 2019 elections,” Garcia-Yulo added.
Earlier four people, some of whom were formerly members of the NPA, accused Yulo and Vice Mayor Ian Villaflor of being members of the NPA Kangaroo Court which ordered the killings of several people in the town.
The murder case filed against her and Villaflor were dismissed by the public prosecutor.
